The Blues are Back in the Smokey Air Show this Weekend!

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Blues are back, and the Smokey Mountain Air show is taking flight! The event will be held at the Mcghee Tyson Airport on September 10th and 11th.

Following, the aerial acts line up consists of over 30 planes on display and in the Knoxville skies! The main performers will be Aeroshell Aerobic Team, A-10 Demonstration Team, US Navy Blue Angels, and the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.

What to Know Before the Show

To begin, the air show grounds are located on the Tennessee Air National Guard side of the airport. The drop off and pick up section will be at the intersection of Lous Lane and Judson Drive only. Continuing, there will be no parking at the airport or the official site of the air show. Parking passes for the event are 75 dollars and you can only have up to 14 people in your vehicle. Admission to the air show is free. If you would like to park on the show property, you must purchase the parking tickets beforehand. Continuing, there is also premium viewing tickets available. These tickets can be purchased here:  The Blues are Back!  

Following, the show schedule will be the same on both days. The air gates will open at 8 a.m. and the ceremonies will begin around 11 a.m. each day. Continuing, the aircraft ceremonies will conclude around 4:15 p.m.

There are three information booths throughout the air show grounds. As well as portable restrooms. Mentioning, there are no outside food or drinks allowed as there will be concessions offered on the aircraft grounds.

Traffic will be hectic on both days this weekend. Thus, the Blount County Sheriff Department is assisting with air show routes and parking. Sheriff Berrong advises people to stay patient in traffic and remain calm throughout the airshow traffic congestion.
