MARYVILLE, TN – REWARD OFFERED LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF INDIVIDUAL WHO LEFT THE SCENE OF ACCIDENT THAT KILLED MARYVILLE MAN

Following, Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced today the family of Gary Burchfield is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual who struck and killed Mr. Burchfield on Peach Orchard Road on August 4.

On August 4 at around 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to the scene and found Mr. Burchfield lying near the roadway on Peach Orchard Road. He was taken by AMR Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy was performed on Mr. Burchfield at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center, and preliminary results of the autopsy confirmed that the injuries he sustained appear to be consistent with being struck by a full-size pick-up truck mirror.
The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is continuing their investigation into the incident, but we need your assistance in identifying the individual responsible.
