BLOUNT COUNTY, TN – The County Commission elections will be finalized on August 4th, 2022. Following poll counting, candidates will work towards resolutions in their districts for the next four-year term.

To begin, Tracey Farr has made a statement for FetchYourNews regarding campaign. She is running for Blount County Commission, District 2, Seat A.

She said,” I am less concerned about party affiliation than I am about our district having a fresh perspective. Following, we are experiencing fast paced growth.

Following, many people I have talked to in our district are rightfully concerned about roads and infrastructure for this growth. (We need to be) preserving our community’s beautiful landscape, school resources and affordable housing.

With 21 seats on the commission, we currently need more diversity from new leaders. Adding, we need planning skills. We need people truly listening to the concerns of the people they are elected to represent.

If elected, I am absolutely committed to working with all local officials (including the Alcoa and Maryville city leaders) so we can pace our growth and take care of our people to work towards a fair quality of life for our younger generations.

I’m a mother of 3, and Business Professor at our local community college so I know firsthand how this is going to play out.

We will be an industrial city at the base of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and it will create more harm than good if we keep selling off land to the highest corporate bids and shrinking our lot sizes through zoning that we absolutely have the ability to change. We can and we should do better for our citizens.”

Concluding, FetchYourNews has reached out to other county commission nominees as well. Statements will be recorded and linked to County Commission articles regarding responses.
