According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was taken into custody following an investigation into alleged possession and distribution of sexually explicit material involving minors. Investigators did not release the suspect’s name due to the ongoing nature of the case and to protect the privacy of potential victims.

“The safety of children in our community is our top priority,” said Sheriff James Lee Berrong. “We will pursue these cases vigorously and ensure those who exploit minors are held accountable.”

The suspect is currently facing eight counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and is being held at the Blount County Detention Center pending further legal proceedings. Authorities warn that the investigation is still active, and additional charges could be filed as more evidence is gathered.

Blount County District Attorney’s office emphasized that cases involving child exploitation are treated with the utmost seriousness, and they encouraged anyone with information related to the investigation to come forward.

Community members expressed concern over the arrest, highlighting the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activity to protect local children.
