Blount County, Tennessee – The Sheriff’s Office has received a few phone calls today from individuals who are reporting that they are receiving calls from individuals stating they are with the Blount County County Sheriff’s Office and telling people they have a court summons or an active warrant and that they will be required to pay a fee to get it resolved. The criminal caller is spoofing the actual Sheriff’s Office business line.
We’d like to reiterate that deputies will NOT call you to tell you that you have a warrant for your arrest, and they will NOT threaten you that if you don’t pay the fee you will be arrested.
Sheriff’s deputies do call individuals with routine business, but NEVER for any of the above reasons. If you receive a call of this nature, hang up. Please do not fall for it. If you ever have any questions or doubts about an individual who claims to be from the Sheriff’s Office, you can call us to confirm whether the individual is legitimate.
Please share this information with your loved ones. Many people do not have access to social media and would benefit from being informed.
