Blount County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help Identifying Vehicle in Hit-and-Run

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision with a bicyclist Tuesday morning on Old Walland Highway.

According to Sheriff James Lee Berrong, the incident occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. near Melrose Station.

The victim, a 56-year-old woman, told deputies she was riding her bicycle along Old Walland Highway when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop following the collision, according to the victim.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Investigators are seeking an older-model silver or dark gray Nissan 350Z, or a similar type of vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly equipped with tinted windows and may have aftermarket modifications, including a rear spoiler.

Authorities said the vehicle could also have front-end and/or right-side damage as a result of the collision.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who was traveling along Old Walland Highway in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the crash or seen a vehicle matching the description to contact investigators.
