Blount County Man Sentenced to Twenty-Five Years for Rape of a Child

PRESS RELEASE – Blount County District Attorney Ryan Desmond announces that Billy Joe Genaway, 45, was convicted on November 14, 2025, of rape of a child that stems from an investigation by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and Investigator Magahn Mattocks from July 2024.

Defendant Genaway received a twenty-five-year sentence to serve with a 100% service rate in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for the offense of rape of a child. The defendant will also be required to register as a sex offender and be supervised for the remainder of his life. Assistant District Attorney Tyler Parks led the prosecution of this case for the State.
