Blount Co. Sheriff’s Office offer condolences after vehicle fatality

MARYVILLE, TN – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that a Maryville man died Thursday, Feb. 3, as the result of a one vehicle car crash after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and landed in Little River on Ellejoy Road.

Kegan A. Drysdale, age 30, of Devictor Drive, Maryville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies responded to Ellejoy Road near River Ford Road at approximately 7:30 [the morning of Fe. 3] to the report of a vehicle on its top in Little River. When deputies responded, they located the vehicle near Coulters Bridge. Divers with BSORT (Blount Special Operations Response Team) responded to the scene to assist with extricating the vehicle from the water. Divers discovered one individual inside of the vehicle.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit determined that Mr. Drysdale was traveling northeast on Ellejoy Road in a 2011 Nissan Sentra and lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. Mr. Drysdale overcorrected and crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle struck some small trees, went off the embankment, rolled, and landed on its top in the water. Mr. Drysdale was wearing a seatbelt. The airbags did not activate.

AMR Ambulance Service also responded to the scene. The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is continuing their investigation into the accident.
