A Section of East Harper Ave. is Closed for Repairs

City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works announced beginning today, Thursday, November 4, 2021, the bridge on East Harper Ave. between Wright Road and Griffitt Street will be closed for repairs, following a regulatory inspection by TDOT. East and Westbound traffic will be detoured to E. Broadway via Cumberland Street and Everett Avenue. Residents will have access to their homes along East Harper Avenue.

Update 12/6/21
A structural engineer, Volkert Engineering, Inc. has been contracted to survey and inspect the bridge this week. Design work for the repairs will take approximately one month to complete. The City will then select a contractor to begin repairs. This process could take approximately three months depending on the extent of the needed repairs. Once the repair work is complete, TDOT will reinspect the bridge and approve the repairs prior to reopening. The complete process is expected to take at least six months but could take longer due to strains  – including supply chain, staffing and COVID-related issues.
